Tips to Organize Your Way to Success
Ever feel like you have worked non stop all day, skipped lunch barely made it up from your desk only to feel like you have accomplished absolutely nothing??
I like to call this busy with no purpose. What does that get you? Tired with no results!
Now I don't know about you but that's not what I am aiming for when I get to work. Try these ways to organize your ways to success!
Nightly preparation - Before you go to bed each night, get ready for the next morning. Decide whether you will eat out or bring your lunch the next day. If you are bringing, pack your lunch container the night before. Do you make the kids lunches? Pack those too. Decide what you are going to wear and lay that out. Get your kids to prepare themselves too, so the next morning goes smoothly.
Task list - When you get to work in the morning, start a task list for the day. Before you even log into your computer, jot down what you need to get done for the day in your notebook. Scan your email for anything urgent and don't open anything unless it is. Then get started with those tasks immediately. As you get things done, check them off. By doing this, you will know exactly what you accomplished for the day! Prefer an electronic task list? Try the Asana app from iTunes! I downloaded it last week and I love it! Here is a link to an eBook that shows you how to use it, if you need extra help.
Stay focused - It will be extremely hard, but you have to stay focused on your task list and ignore the other distractions. If you are in the middle of working on a project from your list and someone calls you, don't answer it. They invented voicemail for a reason. There may be a few people that are excluded, let's say your boss or Director of your group. But outside the very small list you deem VIP, ignore those calls. It goes for email and colleagues too! Don't let these things interrupt your goals. You can get to all those other things after you finish your tasks for the day.
Take your days back and make them productive. Leave those busy days of no accomplishments behind you and don't let anyone or anything stop you from meeting your goals!
